My Bumpy Boobs
breast cancer blog
My name is Catherine, I’m 27 years old, and I have breast cancer – newly diagnosed. At first I thought, ‘maybe it’s a cyst, maybe it’s a nothing’, but then it became breast cancer. In any case, thank goodness for all that breast cancer awareness promotion, because it gave me the courage to immediately visit my GP and ask – what the hell is this bump in my boob?! And look: now I have a breast cancer blog, so there’s the start of my writing career (though not quite as I imagined!).
This site isn’t just a breast cancer blog. No way. It’s about body image, and relationships, and communicating, and role models, and how incredible and supportive people can become. But I didn’t know what to name it, so I figured why not name it after the source of my inspiration – the reason for reaching out into public domain? Because right now I have a bump in my chest, and it’s driving me a little crazy.
This isn’t a guide on how to cope, or what procedures are like for breast cancer screening. It’s about my experience, which is all the expertise I’m fit to share. (It does shed light on what happens after a breast cancer diagnosis, but this must vary individual to individual)
If you want to follow my craptacular adventure, start here with my prediagnosis rambles. Or start anywhere you like, I’m just happy to share.
